Taking a cue from a movie!

TAKING A CUE FROM BARBERSHOP 3; THE NEXT CUT
So I saw this movie and I kind of got inspired to write a piece about some lessons I learnt from it.
Enjoy.
1. Appreciate people: People will not always be around forever in our lives and we always tend
to subconsciously forget that. A text message, a call or a thank-you note from you to them
wouldn’t be too much. Don’t say “but they know that I care”, (how will they know when they
are not God) show them. Not only does it make them feel appreciated and loved, it brings
out the best in them.
2. Stop whining about your issues, Do Something about it! : (Every little step towards your goal
is a goal achieved in bits) We like to complain a lot about things happening around us,
probably the situation of things in our neighbourhood, church, friends, family and other
things, yet we refuse to do something about them.
3. Smile, you haven’t got all the problems in the world: Frowning your face at all times and
feeling grumpy will do you no good, it will only keep you from enjoying the moments today.
Take a chill pill and spice up your life with humour.
4. If you don’t take care of your partner, someone else will: This is for the married folks and
people in a serious relationship. (Remember Common, Eve and Nicki Minaj in the movie)
Humans are naturally inclined to gravitate towards where they are being appreciated, rather
than remain where they are being tolerated. If you have someone you need to show some
love to and you are yet to tow that line...it’s just a matter of time before they turn on you.
The Karachika’s and Yoruba demons are out there and they are damn good at what they do.
(You wouldn’t want Edible Catering to be chatting with your spouse at 2a.m)
5. There’s always a “One-Stop” in our life, we sure need them: In case you are wondering who
One Stop is, lemme give you a down low. One-Stop is that friend of ours that guy in our
office, church or school that doesn’t care about friendship when it comes to business. One
stop can sell water to a well, and One Stop can package. Funny enough, even One-Stop has a
Mumu button. We need One-Stops in our lives sometimes; they help us to see life in another
perspective without attaching sentiments.
6. If you don’t want to hear about it don’t talk about it: Ever heard of”some secrets go to the
grave” (a friend said that). Be careful about the kind of people you share your weaknesses
with during your moments of despair. Always tell your problems to God, He won’t judge you,
He won’t tell another, he won’t remind you when you refuse to buy him/her that birthday
gift and He will fix it for you. Partner with God, even friends fail.
7. Be sensitive to other peoples need: People make wrong decisions just because they want to
be accepted by others. Sometimes a little care from someone is all they need to stop them
from making such costly mistakes. That person could be you. (The world would be a better
place if we showed more care and love)
Be the change you want to see in others.
